Week #63 - Esperanza

Hello all!!

Fernanda got baptized!!

It was a great week this week. We were super inspired by a leadership meeting we had this morning run by our zone leaders who brought Pres. Avila to speak. SO many good things he said. but here are a few phrases I wrote down that caught my attention:

¨A man with purpose KNOWS where he is going.¨

¨Desire MORE to be more blessed!¨ (reference to the three Nephites who chose to work in the lord´s vineyard longer than be taken up to live with Christ)
¨Faith is a mental exercise.¨

Instead of saying ¨I will have 50 baptisms this month¨ it´s “I HAVE 50 baptisms this month.” All the hard physical training In softball or cross country was very mental and physical. Here on the mission, it´s an very mental, spiritual, and to my surprise (now with a broken down body and15 months out in the field) physical exercise! I truly feel like there isn´t any other place better to learn to be successful than the mission. And I´m so grateful for the discipline I am learning! The Lord has blessed up SO much and  want to see His power even more these next 14 weeks.

It was cool to experience the schedule change in church on Sunday! It felt a lot more productive and we felt a lot more united only having to be there 2 hours. Also, Juliana Cotrina Rojas whom we have been looking for a month to set her baptismal date with her kids came again to church, and we sat together in the second hour during gospel doctrine. When we were reading out of the Book of Mormon during class, I noticed her eyes were fixed on the page, and suddenly she turns to me and asks: “Sister Doney, when is the next baptismal service??” Trying to stay as calm as possible I answered, “This Saturday. I What do you think?” She nodded and said: “Yeah”. THE LORD HEARD OUR prayers this week and knows our desires. SO grateful for the little miracles that happen everyday! It is SUCH a privilege to have this calling and to do all I can to be sanctified and purified to see miracles. I am ready to work even harder with my comp this week.

My companion and will have 15 minutes to lead out a discussion to know how to use the members better in our zone conference this week. Pray so we can receive guidance to know how to do it most effectively and help the missionaries!

Church quote from a member who was reading a scripture passage:
¨Tus pescados te son perdonados¨ (your fish are forgiven, instead of sins). The whole class started laughing. Poor sister forgot her glasses.
