Week #61 - Esperanza

FELIZ NAVIDAD!!!

Well folks, I will be celebrating my LAST Christmas in Perú this week! Can you believe it?? It has definitely been one of the hottest Christmas’ I´ve experienced, and I have been offered a lot of panetón... look it up. Its... interesting. But nonetheless, I LOVE Perú and their love for Christ and willingness to serve Him.

We were pretty sad this week when we found out that Felix stared drinking again .... so he didn´t make it to his baptism. So sad..... We will pray and see what we can do to help him and see how willing he is to leave behind his addiction...BUT we are not discouraged!

We are working with a 15-year old named Fernanda right now, who lives right by the chapel. Her mom has been really worried for her daughter and the things she is getting involved in, and knows we have been an answer to her prayers for help. She´s so grateful and happy that we have been visiting her, and this week she expressed her desire to come to church and go the activities with her daughter to support her, even though she´s Catholic. Another 13-year old girl named Solange who lives right in front of the chapel has attended 4 times now and has 2 friends who are members. She participated in the young women’s choir a few weeks ago and expressed her desire to be baptized. We taught her with her mom this last week and her mom supports her decision. Her mom is not married, and is not ready to make that step yet, but we are hoping to help her set a baptismal date this week!!

I´m sooo excited to skype the fam this week!! I love you all so much and hope you eat tons of hot chocolate and listen to some good Christmas jams!
