Week #58 - Esperanza
Hola everyone!!!! I ATE CUY THIS WEEK. pic below. you can see the toe nails.
Fernando got baptized!! He is sort of shy and timid, but when he bore his testimony, he just lit up and had such a large grin on his face. He said he went through a lot of difficulties that morning to get to the church for his baptism and felt a little sad, but when he entered the water, he felt so happy and calm. This past week the elders from Jordan introduced us to a family they had been teaching in their area who recently moved to ours. They are wonderful and have the goal to be baptized as a family. My companion and I had just been talking the other day about how much we want to find a family to teach and help to get baptized, and apparently, the Lord heard our conversation! So this week we plan to extend a baptismal date with the 4 family members. Felix who has a baptismal date now for the 22nd of December, came to church on Sunday the three hours, and is progressing so much. His learning is slow, but he is doing all he can to put in his part to understand. He also came to the baptism we had this past Saturday, and brought his pamphlets of the Restoration and the Plan of Salvation which touched our hearts. I know the Lord will bless him so much!
I love the sisters we are responsible for so much. They are so much fun to be around, and they all help me laugh and relax, which I need. Heavenly Father knew what type of sisters I needed to help me handle my responsibilities calmly, and I´m so blessed for that!
During fast and testimony meeting, a member got up and said that a scripture the sister missionaries shared with her in Alma 17:9 really touched her and helped her to strengthen her testimony of missionary work. I LOVE the Book of Mormon so much and the power it gives us in our lessons. I felt the need to get up and share my testimony too. When I finished and went to sat back down, the bishop sitting on the stand looked concerned and tried mouthing me a question and I could not understand... he sent his secretary down while someone was giving their testimony and he asked me ¨okay. tell me the truth....do you have transfers??!!¿¨I laughed and said no and he went and sat back down relieved.... I love Esperanza and the members so muchhhhh!! I don`t think I`ll be leaving soon haha ;)
The mission is the best thing I could have chosen to do. I am learning, growing, and serving, and seeing different parts of me I have never seen before (some good and some bad haha). Everyday I wake up so grateful for the chance the Lord has given me to be His servant. The mission is not easy. I think the hardest part about the mission is having to face MYSELF, and my weaknesses, accept them, and repent. It has really been a ¨mission¨ to find out who I really am. It´s helped me look at myself in a different way, and develop attributes of Christ. The mission has helped me to be REAL. And that´s something we lack sometimes.
I love you all so much! I hope you all are remembering to Light the World this week!!
