Week #41 - Cajamarca
Hello everyone!!! I can´t believe we´re about to start August!
We really strove to pray more this week in the street, and rely on God´s power to guide us to the people who truly are going to progress and accept the true gospel in their lives. We noticed that with increased practice in companionship study, with more prayers in the street, and more contacting, the Lord blessed us with more people who accepted us into their houses to teach them, when we knocked on the door. Tuesday, when we were contacting, no one wanted to hear us. Finally, we decided that we needed to pray to ask for help from God to guide us to someone who was looking for the truth. Right after the prayer, we kept walking and the we both felt that we should knock on the door that was right in front of us. When we knocked, Olinda answered the door, and we talked with her for a while. She was helping her 7-year-old son Jamel with his homework and had to make a clock out of cardboard, and she didn´t know how to do it. We offered to help and she let us in her house. We helped Jamel and her mom finish the clock, and she was super relieved. We shared the restoration with them, and she told us she was married (very rare here haha) and was super interested in our message, because she was confused with why there were so many churches today, and wanted to know the truth.
I know that prayer isn´t something we should do, just because it´s a commandment and it’s always good to pray to our Heavenly Father. It´s something we NEED to do, because God has so many blessing prepared for us when we humble ourselves before Him and recognize that we can´t live this life alone without His help and His guidance. When we pray to Him, we are opening doors to see His power manifested every day, and it´s what helps us to increase our faith in Him and have a greater desire to rely on Him more in every aspect of our lives.
Something strange: yesterday we were walking and conversing in the street, and we passed by 2 people sitting on a bench in the park with some man standing next to them. As we passed by, the man, without saying anything, proceeded to dance strangely in front of us, moving his hands around like a monkey... we literally didn´t know what to do and just watched him for a while until he stopped and let us pass.... We started cracking up so bad as we continued walking. There never are boring days on the mission!
I have 4 transfers here in Cajamarca now, and we are starting week 6! We´ll found out this week if we have transfers or not, and I´ll let you know next week.
Have a wonderful week, and don´t forget to pray!
