Week #39 - Cajamarca
Ray got baptized on Saturday, and three of our investigators attended too, which was awesome, including Robert! The water ended up being freezing cold because the hot water turns off earlier on Saturdays for some reason... but Ray assured us that it didn´t even matter to him and he didn´t feel anything and felt so good when he came out of the water. He shared his testimony, and it touched my heart when he thanked us for our patience with him during this long process. I love the work of the Lord, and can´t even express how I felt being able to watch a true convert get baptized.
This week went super good. We contacted people like crazy, trying to talk to 20 people every day as Elder Holland challenged us in order to be happier and find new people who are ready to make covenants with God, and we had a ton of fun. We noticed an increased motivation when we talked to more people in the street and knocking on doors, and the time seemed to fly by so much faster. We prayed that God would put people in our way that truly were looking for the truth, and two people ended up contacting us! Marisol came up to us when we happened to be contacting in front of the chapel, and asked if we were members of the church, and we said yes! She told us her brother, Kennedy, was looking for a church to join, because he isn´t baptized and wants his daughters to come closer to God, and felt that the Mormons always strived to be good people, follow what they teach and wanted to learn more. He just ended a divorce and lives with his two daughters. Turned out that they live in the Elder´s area, but we sent the reference, and the elders visited them that day, and Kennedy came to church 15 minutes early with his two daughters this past Sunday!!
Last Monday when we had intercambios, Hermana Terrera and I got to take pictures by the beach in Pacasmayo. It was super beautiful. As we were taking pictures, a man who was definitely dressed up as a drag queen who was selling jewelry was walking around....and he eventually came up to us and looked at me and said; ¨Camila!! Camila!..., why are you talking to my boyfriend on the internet trying to steal my man? ¨ We were a little scared, I and I couldn’t even respond to him seriously hahah... I told him sorry, then he proceeded to talk to my companion and explained that he just wanted to try to sell us jewelry... so wack.
Today we had a pday with our zone!! And we played volleyball and basketball and it was super fun... It felt good to be able to play a little again, and it felt good to know that I could still shoot hoops, throw a football, and serve in volleyball decently haha.
