Week #8 - Granados
Another Week!
This week was pretty hard. A lot of citas (appointments) fell through, yet we´re still chugging away and trying to find new investigators that the Lord has prepared! A lot of people, espeically the youth, are studying and people are either working or sleeping. Just got to keep praying and working hard everyday, and I know the opportunities will come.
Sunday Hna. Inmunda and I gave our 7-10 minute discursos (talks) in Sacrament meeting which was stressful to prepare, but a super great opportunity. I talked about missionary work and three simple ways we can share the gospel: service, by our examples, and charity. I know charity is the solution to everything. Whether we´re feeling overwhelmed with responsibilties, or when someone else is angry or frustrated with us - kill them with kindness, and only good will come in return.
This week in our district meeting I was called as the English language teacher which I´m super excited about. Every time we have a district meeting, I´ll prepare acitivities, and games to help those in our district who are native Spanish speakers, learn English . At the end of every lesson with Hermana Inmunda, especially when we´re teaching jovenes, I like to let our investigators know that we´re here to help them and serve them anyway we can and that I´m willing to help with their English studies too. Magali, who´s my age, is studying English and after our lesson on Sunday, she asked if I could help her. I felt so much joy and happiness being able to help her. Such a cool experience. She has a sincere desire to read the Book of Mormon and find the truth for herself, so we´re super excited for her.
This past Friday was a holiday, and I´m not sure what it´s called, but it was a Catholic holiday. The whoooole night there were fireworks and concerts with music and dancing going on. It was pretty loud yet somehow Hermana Inmunda and I got sufficient sleep through it all, probably because we´re so exhausted from walking all day!
This week some pretty cool things happened. When we were contacting in the street, we ran into a lady named Merta and her little boy. We handed her a little tarjeta from the church and after visiting for a while we eventually brought up the Book of Mormon during our conversation. I felt prompted to hand her a Book of Mormon and challenged her to read it and pray to know it´s true. I´m pretty sure Hna. Inmunda thought I was crazy, haha. Later in the week, we saw Merta walking in the street two different times! I was so excited to see her again and her countenace seemed a little different. She seemed more happy and lively. We asked her if she had read the book, and she had!! Turns out she doesn´t live in our area but we told her that the Elders live not too far from her and would love to talk with her more. I´m praying that she progresses!

It´s been super great with our barrio (ward) here. I love the members so much. Something funny happened during a lesson with a member present named Viviana. I noticed that she kept staring at me and I didn´t know why. Finally she asked me, is your hair color natural? I laughed and told her yes. Then she proceeded to remove my glassed and touch my face to open up my eyelids a little more to see what color my eyes were. Saying that felt a little awkward is an understatement...I felt a little like I was in a Tarzan movie, or something.
I hope everyone has a fantastic week and and that you are all enjoying this Christmas season. Remember our Savior and what we have because of Him, and because He lives. Find ways to light up the world through service and your examples, and you will be more spiritually receptive to the promptings of the Spirit and will have more happiness and joy. I love you all, and wish you a great and safe week!
