Week #4 at the MTC
I can´t believe I have only 2 more weeks left at the CCM and that I've been in Perú for a month!! Time really does fly by even though the days seem so long.
Kind of a crazy week! It's been super fun being the Hermana Coordinator and really getting to know the new Hermanas. Two of the new Latina Hermanas who got here last week are going to my mission in Trujillo Norte. And now 5 Americans will also be going toTrujillo. I'm so excited for Trujillo. All the natives here keep saying how beautiful and peaceful it is. Kind of hard to imagine that being here in Lima, since it´s just a big crazy city with tons of people.
During lunch this past week, the Latinas wanted me to recite Moroni 10:4-5 to them in Spanish since I´ve memorized it. After I finished they all bowed down and shouted: ¡Me bautice! hahah. I love them so much.
The food this week in the CCM got me super excited. They had pesto pasta, which my mom knows is one of my favorites, AND apples. Felt just like Washington. To top that, Elder Bailey in my district overheard me saying that I was missing my peanut butter so he kindly shared his jar that he brought from home. The downer was, I got really sick Saturday. I had to stay in and rest because I was feeling super weak and my stomach was not having it. Luckily, Hermana Lawrence was able to go with the other Hermanas who live with us, so she didn't have to stay in all day with me. I ended up receiving a priesthood blessing from Presidente Moore. I´ve been feeling loads better and am so grateful to have had the opportunity to recevie a priesthood blessing.
I also managed to break my retainer this last week... (sorry mom), so I took a trip to the dentist to see what could be done. That was an adventure. The dentist was such a sweet guy, and happened to be a member of the church but the office was super sketchy. There was no front desk or receptionist, just a seating area and the room where he does his procedures. I was able to practice a ton of Spanish with him and Hermana Lawrence was grateful to get out of the CCM for once. The real kicker was, I could literally see little chunks of teeth all over the floor. It was somethin else.
We just got back from the temple again this afternoon. I love the temple so much. It´s such a blessing that I´ll have access to one while in Trujillo! Today I was able to do the ordinances in Spanish for the first time, which was a super cool experience. This Saturday, my district has the chance to go proselyting for 4 hours in Lima!! We´re all super excited/anxious, and it´s going to be such an eye-opening and humbling experience.
Only one more P-day email for me here in Lima, then I´ll be out in the field for good in Trujillo! I love you all so much and know that the Lord is watching over you. The work here we are doing is unlike anything else. We´re sacrifcing time here away from our families and friends so others can live for eternity with their families. How special and profound that is.
Mucho amor,
Hermana Doney
