Week #2 at the MTC
Happy late Halloween everyone!! I can´t believe another week has come and gone. The days seem super long, but weeks still seem to fly becasue of how busy we are in the CCM.
So this week I was kept pretty busy. I taught the lesson on Sunday for my district class about repentance and it went really well. Presidente Moore also attended my lesson, which made me a little nervous at first, but the spirit was there and everyone participated. I played piano for a few of the meetings we had at the last minute, which was a little nerve-racking with so many people here at the CCM. We also had to write 5 minute talks on Faith in Christ and on the Book of Mormon in Spanish in case we got called on to speak during Sacrament meeting. I haven't been called on yet luckily, but I have a feeling I will soon...
My compañera Hna. Lawrence and I taught our last lesson to Edwin, our investigator. He will be getting "baptized" November 18th, so things went well. We have two new investigators now named Andre and Carlos. We teach Andre in the mornings every other day and Carlos in the evening, all in Spanish. Hna. Lawrence and I are really getting the hang of things and our Spanish is getting so much better. We are so different from each other, but that's what makes our comapnionship great!
This week we had to go to Interpol, and waited about 4 hours to get our visas situated. Super fun stuff. Afterwards, all the Elders in my district went into a little shop close by and practically bought all the Inca cola they had. 11 Liters. Classic.
Also, Elder Hobbs in my district broke his tooth biting on a Life Saver mint and had to go to a dentist office in Lima. He had quite the experience. We also had two little earthquakes again! One during lunch and another just a couple nights ago before we fell asleep. It reminded me a little of home because our washing machine is really powerful and shakes our whole upstairs sometimes, haha.
We listened to some great devotionals by Elder Holland and Elder Stevenson this past week. Elder Holland never fails to motivate me to be the best missionary I can be. He reminded us that "salvation is not a cheap experience". A mission is going to be the hardest thing we have done so far in our lives, but it will also be the most rewarding. If it cost Christ everything to fulfill His duty on Earth, it can cost me at least something to help accomplish His work. I encouage you all to read the Book of Mormon everyday. As a missionary, my eyes have been opened to new insight and revelation each time I open the scriptures. I read in chapter 7 of Alma this past week, testifying of our Savior Jesus Christ and the Atonement. This precious gift can only be worth someting to us if we use it. I know Christ has felt eveyrthing we have felt, no matter what you have been faced with. He wants to help us along the way, we just have to reach out to Him.
I hope you all have a great week!
